Doritos Package Redesign

The project aimed to redesign Doritos packaging with a focus on sustainability, creating an eco-friendly solution that remained bold and eye-catching. Alongside a new look, the packaging was designed to include interactive elements to engage customers. The primary goals were reducing environmental impact, aligning with Doritos’ brand identity, and enhancing the in-store experience through visual and physical interaction.

Process

To achieve a more sustainable design, I researched and selected eco-friendly materials, exploring biodegradable or recyclable alternatives that could support the packaging’s iconic bright colors and glossy finish. The challenge was maintaining the vibrant aesthetic while making it clear that the packaging was environmentally conscious.

The interactive component involved adding a crossword puzzle to the back of the packaging, providing customers with a fun, engaging activity while enjoying their snack. This approach aligned with Doritos' playful and edgy image, offering something new and unexpected that encouraged prolonged engagement with the product.

The proposed switch to sustainable materials aimed to appeal to eco-conscious customers, while the interactive crossword puzzle was designed to offer a unique experience aligned with the brand’s playful identity. The packaging retained its bold, eye-catching presence, effectively communicating the eco-friendly focus without sacrificing brand recognition.
